We hit a milestone today: every single barangay in the Philippines now has a description on brgy.to.

That's 41,810 barangays across all 83 provinces and 1,624 municipalities — from Batanes in the north to Tawi-Tawi in the south, from Metro Manila to the most remote island barangays.

Every barangay page now tells you something about where it is, what the community is like, what the municipality is known for, and what makes the area unique. No more blank pages.

What Each Description Includes

Every barangay description follows a consistent format:

  • Two paragraphs covering the barangay's location, district or municipality context, community character, economy, and notable features
  • Key details at a glance — the district or municipality, barangay type, and the city or province it belongs to
  • Nearby landmarks for barangays close to churches, universities, markets, parks, government buildings, and other points of interest

We researched every municipality in every province — geography, terrain, economy, festivals, languages spoken, and landmarks — to make sure each description reflects real local context, not generic filler.

The Numbers

  • 41,810 barangays with unique descriptions
  • 83 provinces fully covered
  • 1,624 municipalities and cities
  • 100% coverage — no barangay left behind

But We're Not Done

Descriptions are just the start. The information that matters most to people — who their barangay officials are — is still missing for the vast majority of barangays.

Right now, we have officials data for about 5,400 officials across roughly 1,000 barangays. That's only about 2.5% of all barangays in the country.

That means for over 40,000 barangays, people still can't look up who their captain is, who their kagawads are, or who to contact at the barangay hall.

This is the gap we need to close. And we can't do it alone.

We Need Your Help

This is where you come in. We're asking Filipinos everywhere to help us fill in the officials data for their barangay.

What We Need

For each barangay, we need:

  • Punong Barangay (Captain) — full name
  • Kagawads — all 7 members of the Sangguniang Barangay
  • SK Chairperson — the youth council leader
  • Barangay Secretary and Treasurer — if known
  • Contact information — phone number, email, Facebook page of the barangay hall
  • Office hours — when the hall is open

That's it. Even just the captain's name helps.

How to Contribute

Option 1: Claim Your Barangay Page (For Officials)

If you're a barangay official, you can claim your barangay's page on brgy.to and manage it yourself. Once verified, you can add all officials, post announcements, update contact info, and answer resident questions — all for free.

Go to your barangay's page and click "Claim this Barangay" to get started.

Option 2: Share What You Know (For Residents)

If you're a resident and you know who your barangay officials are, use the Q&A section on your barangay's page to share that information. Post the names and positions and we'll add them to the page.

You can also email us directly at hello@brgy.to with the information.

Option 3: Spread the Word

Share brgy.to with your community. The more people who know about it, the faster we can fill in the gaps. Share it on Facebook, in your GC, or just tell your neighbor.

If you know a barangay official — a captain, a kagawad, anyone — send them the link to their barangay's page and encourage them to claim it.

Why This Matters

Every piece of officials data we add helps real people:

  • The resident who needs to know who to talk to about a dispute
  • The OFW trying to process documents from abroad and needs to contact the barangay
  • The student applying for a scholarship that requires a barangay endorsement
  • The business owner who needs to know which kagawad handles permits
  • The senior citizen who just wants to know the captain's name

When this information is online, it saves everyone time and frustration. It makes local government more transparent and more accessible.

The Goal

We want every barangay in the Philippines to have its officials listed on brgy.to. All 41,810 of them.

It's ambitious. But the descriptions milestone proves it's possible — we went from zero to 100% coverage. We can do the same for officials data, especially with your help.

41,810 barangays described. Now let's get 41,810 barangays with officials.

Help us get there. Visit brgy.to, find your barangay, and contribute what you know.

Maraming salamat sa inyong lahat.
