Clearance vs. Good Moral Character
Barangay Clearance
- • Certifies residency
- • States no pending cases in the barangay
- • General purpose document
Good Moral Character
- • Certifies character and conduct
- • Attests to good reputation
- • Often for school/employment
Tips
- Check with your employer/school which specific certificate they need
- Some institutions may require the certificate to indicate a specific purpose
- Being a long-time resident of the barangay makes the process smoother
- Ask if they need a character reference from a barangay official
Important Note
Some employers or schools may also accept a Barangay Clearance instead of a Certificate of Good Moral Character. Clarify the requirement first to avoid getting the wrong document.
